New benchmark
Renault is raising the bar for large electric vans when it comes to range. The new Renault Master E-Tech Electric gets a lot more kilometers from a full battery than expected.
In November the curtain went down on the brand new Renault Master, which will also be marketed as the fully electric Master E-Tech Electric. At the time, Renault reported an expected maximum driving range of ‘more than 410 km’ for the version with the largest battery. As it turns out, with that 87 kWh battery the Master E-Tech Electric can go a lot further, namely 460 km (WLTP). In doing so, Renault says it is setting a new standard and, let’s be honest, its competitors are indeed unable to achieve that. Stellantis’ largest electric vans come close with a range of 420 km, but also require a much larger battery (110 kWh).
If you still think an 87 kWh battery is a bit too much, you can soon also order the new Renault Master E-Tech Electric with a 40 kWh battery. This also means that the reach is somewhat larger than previously assumed. Renault now expects around 200 km, instead of the previously reported 180 km. Recharging is possible in both cases with up to 130 kW charging power and with the largest battery you can charge an additional 252 km of range in half an hour. Renault previously estimated this at 229 km per half hour. So many more positive values, but it is not yet known what you will pay for it all in all. Delivery should start before next summer.
