The new Maserati is called MC20

Maserati presents electrification plans every once in a while, but the Italians are actually going to work on new models. The brand has just announced the name of its new super sportsman: MC20.

Maserati will soon be launching an electrified Ghibli and the GranTurismo and GranCabrio will have full electric successors, but Maserati also has ambitions higher up the performance ladder. Even before the presentation of the two aforementioned electric GTs, the brand pulls the canvas of the MC20, the first supercar “of a new Maserati era”.

The MC20, with the letters ‘MC’ as for the MC12 from 2004, stands for Maserati Corse and the figures for 2020, will be presented at the end of May in Modena, Italy. In that city, the car will also run off the line at Maserati’s Viale Ciro Menotti factory.

That we do not just have to expect a sporty Italian, is clear from the fact that Maserati describes the MC20 as “[…] an evolution of the MC12. “The Enzo Ferrari-based extremist is not exactly the least in Maserati’s history. Although Maserati calls the MC20 an evolution of that MC12, you should of course not take that literally. It seems to be purely about a modern interpretation of the concept of the MC12 and that means that the MC20 also becomes a fierce supercar that will be raced with, which Maserati confirms, which is not unimportant: the MC20 gets a fully electric power train!
