This is the new BMW i3! And that’s still very confusing at the moment, because there is already an i3. One that has nothing to do with this fully electric BMW 3-series. In the near future, the current i3 will disappear. The name of the eccentric cart – which has been on the market since 2013 – is transferred to the 3-series.
The new BMW i3 has surfaced in information from the Chinese government. As you can see in the photos, the model has a closed kidney grille, aerodynamic wheels, a diffuser similar to the BMW i4 and blue exterior accents. The boot lid says i3 and eDrive. The L on the butt indicates that this is a 3-series with longer wheelbase. In China, such extended models are a status symbol.
Will the electric BMW i3 also come to Europe?
Little is known about the i3 yet, but the available information talks about an electric motor with 340 hp. And that is the same as in the BMW i4 eDrive40. The top speed of the i3 is limited to 180 km/h. It probably has the same 83.9 kWh battery as the i4 eDrive40, which has a range of up to 590 kilometers. Will the BMW i3 also come to Europe? That’s not clear yet, but we can’t imagine BMW leaving the car in China.
