According to BMW, this is done in a way that is comparable to how an e-reader works, but on a curved surface and with real colors instead of just white and black. Even programmed animations are possible.
BMW seems serious about this technology, which may make it possible in the future to drive a different colored BMW every day. The brand emphasizes that the i5 Nostokana is unique ‘for now’, but notes that the technology is now more robust than before and therefore more suitable for series production.
