These 4 improvements can be found in the Notes app in iOS 13

With the release of iOS 13, your iPhone or iPad gets a lot of new features. The stock apps also share in this. Here are 4 changes you can expect to see in the default Notes app in iOS 13

Apple announced the new version of its iOS 13 mobile operating system at WWDC. It contains many innovations and improvements. The standard app to store notes, images, sketches and clippings is also being addressed by Apple. These are the changes you can expect as a Notes user.

1: Shared folders and better folder management

An important improvement for Notes in iOS 13 is the ability to create shared folders. For example, it is possible to add notes or images together with another Notes user. As soon as something is edited, it will automatically appear in the folder for the other user. This goes beyond the already existing possibility to work together in one shared note.

Folder sharing users can’t just add images or text notes. The updated version of Notes also makes it possible to add new subfolders to a shared folder, which can also be filled with files. The Notes app also gives you the option to give another user read-only permissions to a folder. This way, the person can view all files that are placed in a folder, but they cannot change anything themselves.

2: New Gallery

The most notable change is the one in the Notes app’s gallery. It is much more graphic and clear. All the notes you have saved are now put in a gallery as small images. This makes it easier to immediately find the right note, especially if it contains images or sketches.

3: Checklists become easier to use

Those who often make lists in the standard notes app of their iPhone will soon have a number of new options at their disposal. This makes it possible to drag items in a list to another place and you can swipe to indent items in the list. You can also set that if you check off an item in your list, it is automatically moved to the bottom.

4: Image Recognition Search

Especially if you keep a lot of notes, you can sometimes lose the overview. Then the search function comes in handy. In the iOS 13 version of the Notes app, it becomes a bit more powerful. Apple scans images and sketches to try to recognize what’s in them. That way they can also be included in the search results. The same applies to receipts, bills or other text documents of which you have taken a photo or scan. The Notes app tries to recognize the text in order to make it searchable.

Notes is a standard app that comes with the iPhone. The above functions will be ready when the latest version of the operating system is made available to everyone. That will be around September 2019. The first iOS 13 public beta, on the other hand, is already available. So you can already get started with the test version of Notes, the dark mode and more.
