There will be a lot of Apple products released in 2024, but there are a number of notable absences from the rumors currently circulating. You don’t have to count on these products this year!
These Apple products won’t be released until 2024
Based on information from various analysts and reliable sources, we list everything here that we do not expect Apple to release in 2024.
iPhone SE4
One of the first Apple products that we no longer expect in 2024 is the iPhone SE 4. Previous rumors assumed that Apple would launch the fourth generation of the iPhone SE in 2024. Everyone now assumes that the device will not appear until 2025.
The current iPhone SE was released in March 2022, meaning the device will be at least 33 months old by the time its successor arrives. The next generation iPhone SE is expected to have a design based on the iPhone 14, with an OLED screen, a larger battery, an Action Button, a USB-C port, Face ID and possibly the company’s first custom 5G modem Apple.
Foldable iPhone and iPad
Apple has been working on foldable display technology for years and has applied for several related patents. However, a foldable iPhone or iPad still seems far away. In 2021, Bloomberg claimed that Apple had begun “early work” on an iPhone with a folding screen. The development then did not go further than a display.
Ming-Chi Kuo initially said that Apple would introduce a foldable iPhone in 2024, but in 2022 he revised his prediction and said that Apple would probably only in 2025 or later would unveil a foldable iPhone. Display analyst Ross Young has also suggested that 2025 is the earliest date we could see a foldable iPhone. Apple is expected to launch a foldable iPad sooner than a foldable iPhone.
Air Tag 2
The AirTag is also one of the Apple products that we no longer expect in 2024. Production of the second generation AirTag was expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2024, but according to the latest forecast from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it won’t be mass produced and released until 2025.
According to Kuo, the AirTag 2 will be part of a new spatial computing ecosystem that Apple is building, with the Vision Pro serving as the core for integrating other devices. A new AirTag is likely to have Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, which made its debut in the iPhone 15 models. This makes it possible to track the AirTag even more accurately at greater distances.
iMac Pro
According to rumors, Apple is still working on a high-end ‘iMac Pro’ model with a 32-inch mini-LED display and more ports. Despite the discontinuation of the iMac Pro and all iMac models larger than 24 inches in 2021, Apple reportedly still has plans to launch a significantly larger and more powerful iMac model.
Although Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman raised the possibility of the device hitting the market in late 2024, 2025 is more likely. Ming-Chi Kuo also said that the new iMac Pro will be released in 2025, so it is quite possible that the 24-inch iMac will remain Apple’s only all-in-one desktop this year.
MicroLED Apple Watch Ultra
One of the Apple products that we certainly don’t expect in 2024 is one with a microLED screen. The first Apple device ever with a microLED display will apparently be an Apple Watch Ultra, released in late 2025 or 2026. It is even possible that Apple will not update the Apple Watch Ultra in 2024, but will wait until a year later for this reason.
The microLED display is expected to be 2.12 inches, which is a 10 percent increase over the display of the current Apple Watch Ultra. The technology offers improved brightness, color reproduction, dynamic range, viewing angles and efficiency, making images appear to be ‘painted’ on the glass. The technology makes Apple less dependent on Samsung as a supplier and at the same time utilizes the advantages of developing displays itself, just like chip technology.
Apple products in 2024
