Apple continues to make the AirPods Pro 2 (€ 219.95) better and add new functions, but this year a new version of the popular earplugs will also be published. According to rumors, the AirPods Pro 3 are announced together with the iPhone 17. But which new functions can you actually expect?

New H3 chip

If we are usually allowed to believe reliable Apple connoisseur Mark Gurman, the AirPods Pro 3 will receive a brand new H3 chip. The AirPods Pro 2 have an H2 chip with which the noise reduction became twice as good compared to the first Pro earplugs. The earbuds also have less distortion and even more powerful bass tones.

If the upgrades of the H2 chip were already so large, we think Apple also has big plans with the successor. The H3 chip probably introduces new listening modes and improves existing functions. Moreover, the H3 chip is more energy efficient for all expectations, which gives you more listening time at the AirPods Pro 3.

A new design

Gurman also said that the AirPods Pro 3 will get a new design. Unfortunately, nothing else is known what will change. The AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 1 are very similar and even the AirPods 4 have also received this look.

We do not expect Apple to deviate a lot from this design. Maybe the stalks get some changes or that the fit will be slightly different. The changes will probably be minimal.

Better noise reduction

Perhaps the most important function of the AirPods Pro is the noise canceling. The AirPods Pro 2 added a number of improvements to the (active) noise reduction. According to rumors, Apple goes one step further with the AirPods Pro 3 and they will further improve this form of noise reduction.
