EV interesting for private lease drivers

The popularity of private lease is steadily increasing in the Netherlands. The AutoWeek Private Lease comparator is a handy tool for anyone in the market for a private lease contract: it allows you to compare the monthly rates of different providers per brand and model. These ten cars were the most searched by you during the past year.
The top 10 cars that were most often searched for in AutoWeek’s private lease comparator show that electric driving has now attracted the attention of private lease customers. Nine out of ten cars in the list are available with a fully electric powertrain. Only the Toyota Yaris Cross, good for third place, is ‘only’ available as a hybrid. With its combination of a reliable image, hip and high coach and economical powertrain, that car is simply popular among private buyers – and leasers, as it turns out.
The leader of the list, the Kia Niro, remains available in its new appearance with three different powertrains, with which the car offers something for almost everyone. The Kia Niro is therefore the most sought-after model in the lease comparator for the second time in a row. The Volvo XC40, which has been around for several years now, also remains as popular as ever. At the beginning of this month, that model was in fifth place of the most popular cars of the year so far and a not insignificant part of the sales figures are private lease, it seems.
Fiat 500 is back
What is also striking: the Fiat 500 (e) is back. The popular A-segmenter was not in the top 10 last year, but is now storming back into fifth place. This is without doubt due to the electric variant. Completely new to the top ten are the Dacia Spring and Mazda MX-30. Both are only available as fully electric cars with a fairly limited range, but that does not seem to dampen the interest of private leasers. It is possible that these models are relatively popular as a shopping car for a monthly payment in households with more than one car in front of the door.
The Hyundai Kona is significantly lower in the ranking than last year. This model is therefore ready for a new generation and is therefore somewhat older than the already revised – but undiminished popular for its renewal treatment – Kia Niro. The Peugeot 208 is significantly higher than last year, and can hardly be dragged. The French are heading for almost 10,000 sales, which will probably make the 208 the most popular car in the Netherlands this year.
