In 2021, Dacia’s first electric car will come with Spring Electric

Probably 2021 will be different from 2020 in many ways. However, one thing will not change this year: the range of SUVs will continue to grow. The manufacturers cannot ignore the long-legged models, because their sales are steadily increasing. Last year, 31.8 percent of new registrations were SUVs and off-road vehicles. New, often electric models will be added in 2021. Here are five particularly interesting models.

VW ID.4

The electric brother of the ID.3 will follow in the spring. It could overtake the firstborn. In addition to the popular crossover shape, there is something else that speaks for it: At the start, the ID.3 had to do with teething problems, especially with regard to the software. The ID.4 should have overcome them. In addition, the interior of the ID.3 was criticized many times. With a similar layout, the ID.4 offers a more valuable ambience with prettier materials. The space is also larger. Here the ID.4 even offers more than the VW Tiguan. The prices for the crossover start at 43,330 euros. This makes it significantly more expensive than the sedan. There will be an even more expensive offshoot at the end of the year. For the end of the year we expect the coupé variant of the ID.4 with the name ID.5.

Hyundai Tucson

The now fourth generation of the Hyundai Tucson is moving the VW Tiguan closer to the sheet metal than ever before. On the outside, the compact SUV has only grown marginally, but on the inside and on the inside it is making great strides. The cockpit looks elegant and modern, the range of assistance systems is growing significantly. In addition, the Tucson sets standards in terms of design: the daytime running lights, which are integrated almost invisibly into the radiator grille, are striking. Behind it, various mild hybrids move in, a full hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. Only a fully electric Tucson does not come. To this end, Hyundai is founding the Ioniq sub-brand, the first model of which will be presented in early February. Prices start at 26,100 euros.

Nissan Qashqai, compact SUV, 2nd quarter

The Nissan Qashqai has been one of the most successful SUVs on the German market since the first generation. At times it was the best-selling SUV in the KBA statistics – because the VW Tiguan is an off-road vehicle there. The third edition will come in 2021. It should score with better materials and a more modern design in the interior. The infotainment will have large screens and will be extensively networked. Mildly hybridized 1.3-liter petrol engines are provided for the drive. There is also a so-called e-power drive. Here an electric motor drives the wheels, while the combustion engine is only there to charge the batteries. The system has already been introduced in Japan. The goal: The advantages of an electric car, but without fear of range. The new Qashqai will come to us in the 2nd quarter of 2021.

Toyota Highlander, off-road vehicle, 1st quarter

Toyota is bringing the large SUV Highlander to Europe for the first time after 20 years of construction. The almost five meter long chunk comes exclusively as a full hybrid and should only consume around 7 liters of super per 100 kilometers. The electric motor and four-cylinder petrol engine together produce 247 hp (182 kW) and otherwise correspond to the technical principle of the smaller Toyota models. Larger engines, such as the V6 available in the USA and Japan, should not be available in this country. However, if desired, up to seven people can fit in the car. The prices start at around 52,000 euros.

Dacia Spring

Dacia will launch its first own electric car in 2021: At competitive prices, as is the custom. The Spring Electric is already running in China under the name Renault K-ZE. He will come to us in autumn 2021. Prices should start at less than 20,000 euros. After deducting the electrical purchase bonus, the price could end up at around 10,000 euros. However, one cannot expect more than basic mobility with electric drive. The four-meter short SUV will produce around 33 kW (45 hp) and should have a range of at least 225 kilometers. So it’s ideal for city traffic or for commuters.
