The iPhone 15 Pro has an incredibly handy action button, and with this trick you can make that button even more useful: you can add multiple actions to it at the same time!
Action button iPhone 15 Pro: multiple actions
For most brand new iPhone 15 Pro users, it still takes quite a bit of searching: what should I do with that action button? Do I just keep it on the sound on or sound off switch, or do I still want to open the camera with it? Or start the flashlight? Or..
There are plenty of options, but this also creates choice stress. Fortunately, there is a trick that means you don’t have to choose – at least, not in advance. With Multibutton a distinction is made between clicking once and twice on the action button. This way you always have two actions under your thumb!
Activate MultiButton
MultiButton is a command (for the Assignments app) by Federico Viticci. You download it at the bottom the MultiButton page on MacStores. Run the command once, and grant permission where necessary. Then you still have to set it manually.
Open Shortcuts, and press and hold the ‘MultiButton’ command. Now scroll all the way down to the line ‘Get First Item from List of Shortcuts’. Below that, tap ‘Run…’ and replace the middle section with a command of your choice. This is activated once you press the action button.
Then scroll up a bit, to ‘Get Last Item from List of Shortcuts’. Then select a different command under ‘Execute…’. This is activated when you press the action button a second time. However, the other assignment, which you got on screen with the first tap, must already be out of view. The final step is to assign the Multibutton command to the action button in ‘Settings>Action Button’.
