The clipboard is the temporary storage place for data that you copy and paste. In Windows 10, clipboard history is enabled by default, so you can paste previously copied items. That’s useful, but if you’re sharing the PC with others, it’s a good idea to delete the clipboard history at the end of your work session.
Step 1: Win+V
Thanks to the 2018 update, you can Windows 10 keep the history of all items you have copied since you started your computer. That way you can continue Windows key+V to go back to one of the items you copied during the work session. Still, there are good reasons to delete that history or part of it. Large amounts of data in the clipboard reduce the amount of available memory. The clipboard can hold a maximum of 4 MB and if it is full, your computer may slow down. It is also possible that you have sensitive data on the clipboard. For example, if you copied and pasted a password, others can find it in history. You activate the clipboard history by via Start to the Institutions to go. There you open the section System and then you can in the left column clipboard select to de clipboard history on or off.
Step 2: Delete items
You will also find the button here Clear clipboard data. Of course it is not the intention that you every time in the Institutions must dive to remove this data. This can be done much faster from the clipboard history itself. Use the key combination Windows key+V to see the clipboard history and hover over an item. Then you will see three dots appear in the top right corner of that item. Move the cursor over those three dots. Then it is possible to delete or pin that item. Clipboard history is cleared every time you restart your computer, except for the items you pinned via the three dots.
Step 3: Empty
At the bottom of the menu of the three dots you will also find the command Clear all. This will clear the clipboard history. If you click on this and you open the clipboard history again with Windows key+V, then the badge that reads that the clipboard is empty will appear.
