Apple has changed the Control Center a lot with iOS 11. You can now adjust the layout yourself and add new apps. In general, this has increased user-friendliness. Unfortunately, this does not apply to AirPlay. For example, it may take some searching when you want to switch the audio output from your AirPods to your Apple TV via AirPlay.

This is how you switch AirPlay audio output

It’s actually very simple. Follow these steps to quickly change your audio output via AirPlay.

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to open Control Center. Do you have an iPhone X? Then just swipe down from the top right corner of your screen;
  2. Press and hold the music player, then tap the AirPlay icon: This is how you control AirPlay from the iOS 11 Control Panel. Now you will see a list of devices you can connect to;
  3. Then tap the device of your choice: be it your speakers, headphones or another sound player.

This works the same way when you change the audio output from the lock screen or within an app. Simply look for the AirPlay icon and tap it. You will then be presented with a list of available devices. Note: not all audio apps support this feature. The standard Apple Music app does, of course.
