This is how you get the retro Instagram logo back on your iPhone

Instagram has been around for ten years and is celebrating its birthday with an original gift. You can choose a different symbol for the app, including the classic logo of the beginning. However, you have to open a hidden menu in the settings for this. That is how it works.

Changing Instagram logo: from new to retro

Those who have a birthday, treats. Instagram is celebrating its tenth anniversary by letting users choose from multiple app icons, also known as app icons. This is the picture that you see on the home screen of your iPhone at Insta. You can change the Instagram logo to the retro logo of ten years ago, among other things. That is how it works:

  1. To update

    First, make sure you have the latest version of Instagram from the App S.tore downloaded;

  2. Open Instagram

    Then open the Instagram app, tap your profile at the bottom right and then press the three horizontal bars at the top right;

  3. To the secret settings menu

    Select “Settings” and then ‘pull’ the screen down by swiping down from the top. You have to swipe all the way from top to bottom, after which you will get confetti in the picture;

  4. Choose your new app icon

    Congratulations, you have found the secret Insta menu. Choose your favorite Instagram logo from the list and see the result on your iPhone home screen.

There are several app icons in the list, including the classic logos from 2010. Not much of a fan of the retro design? Then scroll down to view the more modern icons such as “Dusk”, “Sunrise” and “Aurora”. Anyone who is a fan of minimalist designs can go to, for example, “Donker” and “Licht”.

Good timing

The new ‘feature’ appears at a good time. Thanks to iOS 14, iPhone owners have started to personalize their home screens en masse. Apple is letting go of the strings in the major iPhone software update of 2020.

You can now place widgets on the home screen, change app icons and select other fonts, among other things. In summary, you can adjust the entire homescreen to your liking in iOS 14.
