This is how you remove the meeting icon in Windows 10


Since the latest Windows 10 update, there is a new icon on the taskbar of the operating system: Meet Now. You can read here what that icon is for and how to disable it.

Those using the latest version of Windows 10 may have already noticed a new icon on the taskbar called Meet Now. In fact, this button is nothing more than a shortcut. This refers to Skype (if you have one installed) or to the Skype website.

When you click the icon, you will be presented with two options: Create a meeting or Join a meeting. Both options are for starting a new call or joining an existing meeting with Skype respectively.

If you don’t use Skype or prefer to start Skype as a separate program, you can also turn off the Meet Now icon. Right-click on the icon and choose the Hide option. The icon will now disappear from your taskbar.

Do you want to use the shortcut anyway? Then you have to switch it on in a different place. To turn Meet Now back on, right-click on the taskbar and select Taskbar Settings. You will be taken to the taskbar’s settings screen. Scroll down there until you see the System Tray option and the Enable or Disable System Icons link. To make the Meet Now icon visible again, check the box next to Meet Now.
