Would you like to see the weather forecast appear automatically in your Windows 10 taskbar? Then you are probably happy with the new feature from Microsoft. But if you prefer to decide for yourself what is in your taskbar, you can fortunately quickly remove the new weather icon. Here’s how.
It’s a small update, and you might not even have noticed (in that case: sorry!): a blazing sun or rain cloud at the bottom right of your taskbar in Windows 10. Can be useful, but it can also be distracting. In addition, you may prefer to use a different meteorological source than Bing.
If you click on the icon, you will see even more: not only the weather forecast, but also a summary of the latest news, stock market information, etc:
That can certainly come in handy if you’ve personalized your Windows installation to perfection, but otherwise it’s a bit of a haphazard grab from a handful of sources.
Turn off the weather forecast icon
As nice as it can be to gaze at a cheerful sun all day, at least know that you can switch it off. Strangely enough, you don’t do that by clicking on the icon itself.
Click the . instead right mouse button on a empty place in the taskbar. There you will find the drop-down menu News and interests. Step on it with your mouse and click in the submenu that appears on Switch off. You can also opt for just an icon, without text, which is less noticeable, but is also a very brief weather forecast.
