On mobile devices, there are built-in features that allow you to restrict certain activities or content for your kids. On iOS you have Screen Time and on an Android phone you can set parental controls via Family Link. This is how you set parental controls on smartphones.
Screen Time (iOS)
Bee Settings in iOS you will find the function screen time. Select Turn on screen timeconfirm with Continue and choose This is my child’s
Confirm with your Apple ID and password. You can use this to reset your Screen Time passcode if you ever forget it.
When you now again screen time you can open at Device-free time set the times during which the device cannot be used. But there are many other features you can set, including App Limits, Communication Limits and Limits. The latter allows you to activate all kinds of app and content filters, including Music(videos), Movies, apps and web material.
Open the latter and choose Restrict explicit websites for automatic filtering. You can add exceptions here yourself Always allow or Never allow. Another option is Only allowed websitesbut then you have to add all allowed sites yourself.
Another option at Limits is still iTunes Store and App Storewhere you decide whether, for example Install apps and In-app purchases are allowed.
You can of course always turn off the screen time feature. Go again to Settings / Screen Time and scroll to Turn off screen time. Confirm your request with your access code or Face/Touch ID.

Family Link
To set parental controls on an Android device, you can use the Google Family Link app. The actual management can also be done from a iOS device happen.
This app is intended for children who have not yet reached the minimum age to manage their own Google account. In the Netherlands this is 16 years; in Belgium and most other countries this is 13 years. In this case, your Family Link allows you to create a Google account for your child and then perform all kinds of checks, such as managing and monitoring app usage, limiting screen time, and querying geographic location.
Start the app on your own device and keep your child’s device at hand. Choose To work and indicate that it is the device of a Parent go. We assume that your child already has their own Google account. Then open on your child’s device Settings and choose you Google / Parental Controls and follow the further instructions to link the account.
After the link you will find your child in your Family Link app and you can: screen time Set up. Please note that in principle, daily limits apply to all Android or Chromebook devices that your child uses.
You will also find the option here Bedtime for which you can also set a time schedule. You can also remotely lock your child’s device at any time or, via Manage Settings / Google Play, indicate which content type you want to filter and how.
