Do you want to quickly transfer money to, for example, friends or family, but do not have the account number at hand? Recently you can transfer money to a 06 number. How does that work?
With the advent of the IBAN number, it has not always become easier to make payments. The European Central Bank has also been advocating for years to simplify the payment system. For example, it has sometimes been proposed to link an account number to, for example, an e-mail address or telephone number, but this never got off the ground. Although it has now become possible to transfer money to a telephone number, the options are still limited.
For example, you can only transfer money to and from a 06 number if you are a Rabobank customer. You must also have the Rabo App on your smartphone and you must register once to be able to use the extra function.
According to Rabobank, transferring money to a 06 number is just as safe as to an account number. Before a transfer is made, it is first checked whether the 06 number belongs to the IBAN number and the name of the recipient. This check is done by SurePay, the company you may know from the IBAN Name Check. The recipient receives the money directly into his account.
This is how you transfer money
In the Rabo App, you can find the option to make transfers to a 06 number under Arrange yourself. Then go to 06-Pay. If you cannot find this option in the app, you can also go to Service go and then on Payment and savings account to press.
Then select the 06 number on which you want to receive the money. This can also be a foreign number. You will then receive a text message on your phone with a one-time code that you must enter in the app for confirmation. Select the payment account that you want to link to your telephone number and 06-payment is then immediately activated. You can also register via the website from Rabobank.
You can then transfer money to a 06-number in the Rabo app at Transfer clicking and at Account number or 06 number recipient fill in the 06 number of the recipient. You can also use the address book to find a 06 number. Tap on Next one and the transfer is executed. The maximum amount that you can transfer is equal to the limit of your debit card.
