This is the Bizzarrini Giotto: with a unique V12 from Cosworth

Earlier this year, Bizzarrini announced its first completely new car since the 1960s and now the Italians are also revealing what it will look like. Meet the Bizzarrini Giotto, a hypercar with a 6.6-liter V12 from Cosworth in the middle, specially developed for Bizzarrini.

The design of the Bizzarrini Giotto has recently been able to prove itself in the wind tunnel and so according to Bizzarrini it is high time for the final unveiling of the appearance of the new Italian exotic. Who signed for it? That is Turin design house Giugiaro. And that is historically justified, because the young Giorgetto Giugiaro also co-designed the original Bizzarrini 5300 GT, about sixty years ago.

Does the new model also have retro influences? That’s not too bad. The extensions towards the center of the car on the inside of the headlights are somewhat reminiscent of the slots in the nose of the original Bizzarrini and the domed glass behind the passenger compartment is clearly inspired by them, but that’s where it ends. The new Giotto is conceptually quite different from the original 5300 GT, because it has a 12-cylinder instead of an 8-cylinder and the engine is located in the middle instead of at the front.

Please be patient

And what kind of engine, by the way. Bizzarrini also revealed today that it is using a naturally aspirated 6.6-liter V12 in its creation. That block was co- (or mainly) developed by Cosworth, where we previously suspected that the power source could come from the shelves of Lamborghini. Bizzarrini has not yet released specifications of the engine, but we guess somewhere that it is a high-revving engine with well over 700 hp. After all, Cosworth knows how to produce such an engine, as evidenced by the Aston Martin Valkyrie, which has a slightly smaller Cosworth V12.

Is your well-filled wallet already itching at the idea? Then you just have to be patient. Bizzarrini has not yet released more details, but according to the current planning, the Italians are only just starting real world testing in the autumn of 2024. Then they want to make the car’s driving behavior as fun and engaging as possible, because that takes priority over acceleration times and lap times – or so they claim.
