Let squared

Mercedes-Benz is bringing back one of the craziest variants of the G-Class: the 4×4². As if that were not enough, the extra vehicle height is now combined with AMG power. This is the Mercedes-AMG G63 4×4²!
Before we get it, yes, this car is not being unveiled today. This has happened before, but shrouded in the mists associated with an exclusive customer presentation. Those mists are starting to lift, so that’s why we now take a look at the car that previously appeared several times on espionage images. It is a reinterpretation of the ‘old’ 4×4² (‘4×4 squared’ or, in English, ‘4×4 squared’), which was presented in 2015 as one of the crazy goodbye editions.
Portal drive
The 4×4² recipe basically remains the same. This means that the new version is even higher on its feet. Thanks to portal axles, this is again not just a show, but actually provides more space under the car. 11.3 centimeters extra, according to our colleagues at AutoExpress. The wheels measure 22-inch and are also wrapped in a huge slab of rubber, as befits such a real off-roader. Of course there are five copies, because we also find such a huge hoop on the tailgate. It is half hidden behind a unique, exclusive 4×4² plate, of course made of carbon. Under the bumper we find an extra bumper bar and the wheel arches are considerably wider than normal. This über-G makes no secret of that, because the widenings are simply ‘stuck to it’ in black.
bpm
The big difference with the previous G-class 4×4² is the engine. Unlike before, it is now not a G500, but a G63. Yes: this now more than 2 meters high colossus is powered by a biturbo V8 with 585 hp. Going from 0 to 100 should be done in about 5 seconds. Slightly less fast than with a regular G63, but of course bizarrely fast for such a colossus. The G63 4×4² is highly customizable and always remains very exclusive. This is already evident from the exclusive nature of the launch, but is also confirmed by the announcement that this car is ‘the last of its kind’ and will only be available for a short time. What it costs? As a potential customer, you will have to inquire about this yourself. We do know this: with an official CO2 emission of 456 grams per kilometer, the Dutch buyer must take into account 140,500 euros in bpm…
Edit: if things go wrong… Unfortunately, an earlier version of this article could not be opened. This one is, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to read this. Excuses!
