This is the new Suzuki Celerio

The Suzuki Celerio has been cut from the European range a while ago, but now there is a brand new one! The youngest Celerio stands on a completely new platform for the model and is, according to Suzuki, the most economical car with a petrol engine …

… in the Indian market. Suzuki spoons in the Celerio a 998 cc three-cylinder that sends 67 hp and 89 Nm via a manual five-speed gearbox to the front wheels. In the most efficient version of the 800-kilogram Celerio, the three-cylinder consumes only 3.7 l/100 km. Like the Ignis and big brother Swift, the Celerio is on a variant of the Heartect platform. The new Celerio is growing compared to its predecessor. The youngest model is 3.7 meters long, ten centimeters longer than the Celerio, which was also sold in the Netherlands. The wheelbase of the Celerio is also increasing, although the growth is limited by 2 centimeters.

The new Celerio has a distinctive round design that Suzuki describes as 3D Organic Sculpted Design. The back of Suzuki’s brand new little one looks just a bit more anonymous than the front. The face of the new Celerio is a lot higher than that of the previous model and looks a bit more frivolous with its convex headlights, round grille and the design of the bumper. The luggage compartment of the Celerio has a capacity of 313 liters and is therefore considerably larger than that of the previous model (254 liters).

Depending on the chosen version, Suzuki mounts a 7-inch infotainment screen in the Celerio. That display is given a place in a fairly mature-looking interior for this class. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, two airbags and parking sensors.

Unfortunately we have to disappoint Dutch Suzuki fans, Suzuki’s new city car will not come to Europe. Since the launch in 2014 of the Celerio, delivered until 2020, Suzuki has sold 12,574 copies in our country. In its first full year of sales, the car was the most popular, as 2015 was the only year in which Suzuki sold more than 3,000 units.
