Formula 1 has officially revealed what the 2021 Formula 1 season will look like. The Netherlands has been re-positioned on the calendar, Vietnam has been canceled and Sao Paulo is back on the calendar.
Circuit Zandvoort already announced on Tuesday that it will welcome Formula 1 in the first weekend of September 2021. However, it has also become known what the rest of the calendar for 2021 will look like. Important to know; it is a provisional calendar. This is how Formula 1 sees it now, but things can still be changed.
Most notably, the Vietnam Grand Prix – which was to be held for the first time this year – is not on it. The leader of the Vietnamese GP has been arrested (not because of anything related to the GP) and therefore the organization of the event would have been halted. A big blow to the Asian country and the city of Hanoi. After all, the completely new semi-street circuit was opened there at the beginning of this year for the arrival of Formula 1. So it does not seem that Formula 1 will actually drive there for the time being. In its place, a new destination has been added: Saudi Arabia. Incidentally, the weekend of April 25 has been set aside for another GP, so F1 and Vietnam may still come together before that date.
Another striking thing is that Sao Paulo is (with reservation) back on it. After all, on the circuit popularly referred to as Interlagos there would no longer be driven by F1 for the time being, but there seems to be a new deal. Furthermore, the calendar looks largely the same as it was intended for this year, although the Netherlands moved from May to September.
