This is the reason that your iPhone battery drains much faster

Is the battery of your iPhone empty way too quickly? Then there is a good chance that it is due to a function of iOS. This is how you turn it off!

iPhone battery drains too quickly

Have you just charged your iPhone, but has the battery percentage quickly dropped below one hundred percent again? And have you hardly used the phone? Then there is a good chance that you have enabled a relatively new function of the iPhone, which consumes a lot of energy. Apple introduced the always-on screen with the iPhone 14 Pro (Max), with which the time and background are always shown on the display.

The feature eliminates the need to tap your iPhone’s screen to check the time or your notifications. That’s handy, but the always-on screen also ensures that your iPhone’s battery drains much faster. The feature uses as little energy as possible by lowering the refresh rate of the screen, although this does not prevent your battery from draining faster. Do you want to prevent that? This is how you turn off the function!

See how to disable the feature here:

Disable always-on screen

Not all iPhones have an always-on screen. Apple has only brought the feature to Pro models in recent years. Do you have an iPhone 14 Pro (Max), iPhone 15 Pro (Max) or iPhone 16 Pro (Max)? Then the always-on function is enabled by default. Do you want your iPhone’s battery to drain less quickly? Then follow these steps to disable the always-on screen:

  1. Open ‘Settings’ on your iPhone;

  2. Tap ‘Screen & brightness’;

  3. Choose ‘Always on’;

  4. Turn off the switch behind ‘Always on’.

With the always-on screen turned off, your iPhone saves a lot of energy, making the battery drain less quickly. Do you find it useful to always see the time? You can also choose to only show the time on the always-on screen. Hiding the background and notifications ensures that the always-on function has less impact on your iPhone’s battery. Therefore, turn off the switches behind ‘Show background’ and ‘Show notifications’.
