This is the renewed Renault Trafic

Renault has shared the first images of the renewed Trafic Combi and Spaceclass. It is not a big surprise, because the renewed Trafic was already fairly well seen on spyshots and patent plates. The final announcement will follow in early 2021.

The Trafic has had quite a major facelift. The Pure Vision LED headlamps on display are in line with Renault’s recent models. Compared to the current Trafic, the entire top part of the headlight has been cut away, so that the top line of the lighting is now flush with the grille. It is also noticeable that the daytime running lights, in addition to the typical C-shape, are composed of stacked horizontal stripes. Other Renault models also have this, but with the Trafic the stripes are a lot thicker and more emphatically present. Finally, the hood gets some accentuating lines that make the Trafic look a little smoother. Renault has not yet shown an image of the rear, but presumably no major surprises await there.

Renault Trafic

Renault also shows the interior. However, this concerns the more luxurious Combi and Spaceclass versions, which are aimed at passenger transport. The utilitarian variant of the Trafic is keeping Renault under its cap for a while. The whole looks a lot clearer and tidier. The dashboard now also flows more beautifully into the doors, so that the interior looks more like one whole. The updated Trafic will have a prominent 8-inch EasyLink touchscreen, which is of course compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The available space in the Trafic remains unchanged, but Renault says it has managed to create more storage space by arranging the storage compartments differently.

Three diesels

Three diesels make their appearance in the renewed Renault Trafic: the dCi 150, dCi 110 and dCi 170. The dCi 150 has gained 5 hp and is available with both a six-speed manual and the six-speed EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission. The dCi 110 is only available with a manual six-speed gearbox and the dCi 170 is only available with an EDC automatic transmission. Naturally, the new Trafic complies with the Euro 6D Full emission standard. Renault has also refreshed the driver assistance systems of the Trafic. Things like adaptive cruise control, active inter-city emergency braking, lane departure warning and blind spot warning are all available.

Renault will finally unveil the renewed Trafic in early 2021. Then the order versions and prices will also follow. It could well be that Renault will also come up with a Trafic ZE, as more and more electrically powered versions of vans are coming. We will see.
