When the Citroën ë-C3 was introduced, a lot of attention was paid to the price of the basic version, namely €24,790. However, we had not yet mentioned the price of the more expensive Max, which may even become more popular. That changes today.
It’s something: a real EV for less than 25 grand. Citroën does it with the ë-C3 and immediately provides that car with much more range, higher charging speeds and more interior space than that other cheap EV, the Dacia Spring. There will also be an even cheaper version in the future. Although it is not the best for the Spring with a range of about 200 kilometers, it is still cheaper at ‘less than 20,000 euros’.
However, it is suspected that we will not encounter the ë-C3 most often in one of these entry-level versions, but rather as a relatively luxurious Max. We will explain the ‘why’ of this in detail tomorrow, because the ë-C3 will be featured in ‘Back to Basics’. As a tip of the veil, however, we can say that the Max offers many things that private buyers will certainly appreciate, while the basic You version may be more likely to come into the picture for ‘fleet sales’ from, for example, employment agencies.
The Citroën ë-C3 Max is of course the car in the press photos, so with roof rails, alloys, LED lighting all around and a playful, two-tone carriage. The price of all that beauty: €28,790. €4,000 more expensive than the You, but you get something. For example, the Max offers climate control and has a (10.25-inch) touchscreen. The Max does without such a screen and instead comes with a phone holder and a special app.
For just under 29 grand, the ë-C3 may no longer be a real bargain, but it can still be considered one of the cheaper EVs. For example, a BYD Dolphin is always more expensive (from €29,990), just like the MG 4 (from €32,285). In theory, Citroën seems to be succeeding in its aim of offering a European alternative to the Chinese models with the ë-C3.
