This makes the Kia EV4: electric newcomer in the C-segment

The Concept EV3 is not the only important preview that Kia showed during its EV Day. Meet the Kia Concept EV4. That is also a concrete preview. Not on a compact crossover, but on a completely new electric model family in the Kia Ceed segment.

In addition to the Concept EV3, this Concept EV4 shines. His name already indicates that the car he is looking forward to, the Kia EV4, will be one step above the EV3 on the status ladder. Unfortunately, Kia has not yet released any technical specifications for the EV4, but that does not make the car in the photos any less important.

The Kia Concept EV4 is a fully electric sedan that, just like the brand new Concept EV9, the equally new EV5 and the already well-known Kia EV9, is packed with a distinctive design. Like the other models that carry Kia’s EV label – with the exception of the EV6 – the Concept EV4 has so-called Star Map lighting, which mainly consists of straight lines with thickenings. Striking: the Concept EV4 has vertically oriented lighting. The preview has a fairly steeply sloping roofline for a sedan, which ends in a rear spoiler above the rear window with two elevations. The EV4 will not just be a sedan, but appears to be a crossover-like car in the style of cars like the Peugeot 408. Unlike the Peugeot, the EV4 does have a sedan hatch.

We aim for the final production version of this Concept EV4 to become one of the body variants of the EV4 with which Kia focuses on the C-segment. This makes the EV4 series the electric equivalent of the Ceed family. The interior, like that of the Concept EV3, has a relatively minimalist design. Behind the steering wheel we see a display with two screens that function as an infotainment screen and instruments. Below it we find a button island that in the production version is of course equipped with (touch-sensitive) buttons, with which you control things such as the audio system and the climate control. Kia is already talking about two so-called Mind Modes: Perform and Serenity. In Perform mode, according to Kia, the driver “sees all the information he needs to perform optimally and get the most out of the day”. Serenity mode should be more relaxing.
