Rolls Royce Spectre

Rolls-Royce shows the electric Specter for the first time in the open air without camouflage. This copy of the Rolls-Royce Specter, which was revealed on studio footage in November, has already had a pretty intense life.

Last fall, Rolls-Royce presented the fully electric Spectre. As the first series-produced electric car, the huge coupe is an important model for the brand. The Rolls-Royce Specter is therefore going through a pretty intense test process before the first copies are delivered in the last quarter of this year. The British are happy to explain the test work and we are also presented with the first photos of the Specter open and exposed in the great outdoors. So nice to see pictures.

The testing work is impressive. Rolls-Royce wants to cover a total of 2.5 million kilometers with this Specter and thereby confront the car with all kinds of extremes that can be found on earth. The Specter has already covered 2 million kilometers and can now prove itself in South Africa. There, according to the British, the Specter is exposed to quite summery conditions, because it can reach 50 degrees Celsius and the Specter is driven over dusty roads and even gravel paths. Not very special in itself, this happens with many cars, but the distance this car covers is impressive.

After its South African tour, the Specter can return to the Côte d’Azur and also back to the ice-cold Arjeplog in Sweden. The Specter has already visited both destinations. According to Rolls-Royce, the car drives the last 20 percent of the total 2.5 million test kilometers there. When it’s all over, the Specter has been tested so intensively, according to Rolls-Royce, that it actually has 400 years of ‘normal use’ behind it. That’s quite a claim, but well, Rolls-Royce probably says it’s never tested a car so extensively for nothing. We are also curious about the state of the electric powertrain and especially the battery capacity after such a huge mileage. A new Rolls-Royce Specter must be able to get 520 WLTP kilometers from the battery. Calculated very simply, the test Specter would then have completed about 4,800 charging sessions at the end of the test period.
