This Subaru Legacy is very rare and very neat – Enthusiast Wanted

Barrel that is not a barrel

Subaru Legcay

We can thank the previous owner of this Subaru Legacy for carefully preserving a now almost extinct car. If you ever want to own a Legacy Station Wagon again, this is your best and possibly one of your last chances.

Let’s rewind to the end of 2015. That’s when colleague Marco Gorter presented his barrel for that season’s Barrel Brigade. It was a golden-brown Subaru Legacy from the first generation, which of course no longer cost a fortune for various reasons. However, despite its flaws, it turned out to be quite a nice car and at the end of the Barrel Brigade it could simply pass on to the next owner (wrapped as a taxi). There’s a chance it’s still running, but we can’t know for sure. The Legacy was exported in 2019. This unfortunately means that the Legacy generation has become a bit rarer again, although it was no longer exactly a copy to pass up. The Subaru Legacy that we now have in front of us has clearly had a completely different existence.

Not only do we have an apparently neat Legacy here in front of us, it is also a Legacy Station Wagon. It is, if possible, even rarer than the sedan. Be honest, when was the last time you saw one? The fact that it is still there is certainly thanks to its previous owner(s). A license plate check shows that the previous owner had it for no less than 22 years. In any case, the 31-year-old Subaru has not been used intensively in that time, because it only has 94,234 kilometers on the clock. A position that also fits well with the neat condition of the interior. However, such seats can also take a beating.

Such a Legacy as a whole can also take a beating, although rust or oil consumption can sometimes throw a spanner in the works. However, if you take good care of it, you will still have a nice driving, comfortable and spacious car. It also has a nice, torquey and of course nice-sounding boxer engine, but that will probably not be your best friend in terms of consumption. In any case, for €2,500 you can get a special car for not a lot of money.
