Since iOS 26, the iPhone has been using the new Liquid Design and this is clearly visible in the minimalist design of the Camera app. Users only see the main options: Photo and Video. Other shooting options such as Portrait, Panorama and Slow Motion are accessible by swiping left or right and you can place your finger on the button bar for additional options.
To make it easier for users, Apple has provided some parts with extra indicators that you can pin at the top of the app. This way you can quickly operate the flash or disable Live Photos.
Buttons in Camera app
The indicators in the Camera app are small icons that show the status of various camera functions, such as the flash (lightning bolt symbol), Live Photos (two dotted circles), and other settings such as night mode or timer.
The indicators can be found at the top of the screen and can be easily operated from the camera app. Tap once to switch between the different options associated with the symbol. By placing your finger on one of the symbols, you can open an extra menu in which you have the option to turn on Live Photos, for example. In addition, you can also click on the symbols in the

Since iOS 26 you have the choice to make some indicators permanently visible, hide them, or have them appear automatically when they are relevant
- Open Settings
- Navigate to ‘Camera’
- Scroll down to ‘Composition’
- Tap ‘Indicators’
Then you can enable or disable the flash, Live Photo, action mode, and double shot indicators. This way you can ensure that crucial options related to a photo or video shoot are in view, so you know what type of photo or video you are taking.
