Electric luxury off-roader
The can of study models that Toyota opens for the Japan Mobility Show appears to have no bottom. Today we are introduced to another set of new concept cars, including this preview of the very first electric Toyota Land Cruiser.
The Toyota Land Cruiser comes in various shapes, sizes and appearances. In the Netherlands, only the Land Cruiser (Prado) is for sale, while outside the Dutch borders the larger and more luxurious real Land Cruiser is also available. In addition, Toyota still sells the now very old but almost indestructible Land Cruiser J70 in various markets. They are very different from each other, but they also have a lot in common. In all cases they are more than suitable for plowing through rough terrain and they always have a combustion engine. And what about an electric Toyota Land Cruiser? It will come. With this Land Cruiser Se, Toyota broadly gives away what you can expect from the first electric Toyota Land Cruiser.
Toyota has not yet released detailed specifications for the Land Cruiser Se. We know that it is 5.15 meters long, which makes it even a few centimeters longer than the full size Land Cruiser. The car is 1.99 meters wide and, at 1.71 meters, remarkably low. The Land Cruiser Prado already towers above it all at 1.87 meters. The wheelbase is a decent 3.05 meters. Not surprisingly, the Toyota Land Cruiser Se should offer space for up to seven occupants.
In the straight sloping front with the brand name written out in it, we see some cautious Land Cruiser influences. Furthermore, the Land Cruiser Se is remarkably free of references to the models where its origins theoretically lie.
Toyota during the Japan Mobility Show
Toyota has a real taste for it. It not only brings this Land Cruiser Se to the Japan Mobility Show, but also this IMV 0, this Kayoibako, an electric crossover and a new electric sports coupe.
