The British company Thornley Kelham, which previously tackled the Lancia Aurelia GT, is introducing three new restomods. In the ‘European’ range, the Porsche 911, 356 and Jaguar XK120 will be placed next to the Aurelia. The details of the cars are still under wraps.
The only information Thornley Kelham (TK) is sharing about the cars is a teaser image showing the silhouettes of the three new cars it is working on. The company does not explicitly mention the names of the cars, but the silhouettes say enough in principle: these are the Porsche 911, 356 and Jaguar XK120. According to TK, the name ‘European’ comes from the Porsche 356 delivered in America, which in some cases received ‘European’ badges on the sides by importer Max Hoffman. Not just Porsches, but all European sports cars were brand new to Americans in the 1950s. TK thinks that it can offer the contemporary buyer a similar ‘new’ impression with its creations.
For the nature of the upgrades TK offers, a look at the Aurelia rebranded ‘Outlaw’ will suffice. The Outlaw has Alfa Romeo’s 3.2 ‘Busso’ V6 under the hood, which delivers 304 hp after treatment by the coachbuilder. TK also lowered the roof, the Aurelia was stripped of its chrome bumpers. Based on the silhouettes, TK is not expected to work so rigorously with the other cars, but that is largely in the hands of the customer. The company builds all cars completely custom, for which it asks between 250,000 and 600,000 British pounds, converted between €300,000 and more than €700,000. This does not include the donor car that the customer has to supply himself.
