Do you want an Audi Q4 E-Tron, Skoda Enyaq iV or Volkswagen ID.4? The decision probably depends on which one you like best and which fits within your (lease) budget. As befits the ranking of the Volkswagen Group brands, the Audi is the most expensive, with the Skoda and Volkswagen at an appropriate distance. But are the advantages and disadvantages of the Q4 E-Tron?
Audi unveiled the Q4 E-Tron Concept in 2019. The production version differs little from this in terms of design. It measures 4.59 meters in length, making it almost 10 centimeters shorter than the Q5 models and 9 centimeters longer than the Q3. According to Audi, the Q4 E-Tron is a lot more spacious on the inside than both the Q3 and Q5, partly due to the lack of a center tunnel.
Electric Audi Q4 E-Tron travels up to 511 kilometers
Buyers or lease drivers can choose from two battery packs and three powertrains. The delivery program starts with the Audi Q4 35 E-Tron, which couples a 52 kWh battery to a 170 hp electric motor on the rear axle. The Audi Q4 40 E-Tron also has rear-wheel drive, but in combination with a 77 kWh battery, a 204 hp engine and a range of 511 kilometers.
When it comes to fast charging, the Q4 E-Tron is not the standard
At the very top is the Audi Q4 50 E-Tron with 77 kWh, a power of 299 hp and four-wheel drive. The 52 kWh battery pack is suitable for 7.4 kW AC charging and 100 kW fast charging. With the 77 kWh variant, this is 11 kW and 125 kW. In comparison: a Hyundai Ioniq 5 does that with 220 kW much better.
Advantage 1 – The bright LED headlights
And then there was light! These LED units bathe the road ahead in a fabulous glow. The automatic high beam function works excellently and ensures optimal visibility.
Benefit 2 – The space in the back seat
It is far from easy on the second row of seats. The Q4 E-Tron offers its passengers an astonishing amount of legroom and headroom.
Advantage 3 – Lightning-fast stove
Now that the outside temperature has dropped to a wintery level, it’s nice to know that the heating and seat heating make the cabin comfortable in no time.
Downside 1 – Those Cursed Touch Buttons
You will curse these touch buttons on the steering wheel. They are not to be found blindly and if you do try, you will accidentally mute the radio or enable voice control.
Disadvantage 2 – Lane assistance difficult to turn off
When you start the Audi, the lane assistant is on every time. If you want to disable it, you must perform at least two actions. There is no button for it.
Disadvantage 3 – Navi says nothing about battery charge
The navigation system of the Q4 E-Tron does not indicate with how much battery charge you will arrive at your destination. Only when it gets tedious, a warning follows.
