Fast-forwarding a YouTube video on iOS has always been a hassle. A smart function makes operation a lot easier. We show you how this new way of YouTube flushing works.
Fast forward YouTube in 10 second jumps
Because you don’t have a mouse at your disposal with YouTube on the iPhone and iPad, it can be difficult to accurately rewind or fast forward a few seconds. To solve this inconvenience, YouTube has added a smart feature where you use the left and right halves of the screen to rewind or fast forward exactly 10 seconds.

Before going through the steps below, make sure you are running the most recent version of the YouTube app. The new flushing function is only supported from version 12.05 or higher. This update was released on February 14, 2017.
Faster and easier
It works very simple, but because there is no new button on your screen, chances are you did not know about it. From now on, once you have started a YouTube video, you only have to tap the left or right half of the video twice in quick succession. Tap left twice and the video will go back ten seconds. Do the same on the right half and YouTube will continue the video for ten seconds.
In addition, YouTube will now also make it easier to discover more videos. By swiping from the bottom to the top at the beginning and end of a video, you will see a menu containing additional videos.
