This is how you can redeem an App Store or iTunes card
Did you get or buy an App Store or iTunes gift card over the holidays? Then you probably want to know how you can add the credit to your Apple ID, so that you can make purchases with it.
You use App Store credit to get paid apps or games, but the money is also available to expand your iCloud storage, for example. The handy thing is that you don’t have to work with iDeal or PayPal to pay in the App Store, but you just use a ‘prepaid card’.
Grab the App Store & iTunes Gift Card and scratch open the 16 digit code on the back. Then go through the following steps on your iPhone or iPad:
- Open the App Store on your iOS device and at the ‘Today’ tab tap your photo (or default avatar) at the top right;
- You will then see the option ‘redeem gift card or code’. Tap this;
- After this, you can enter the code in two ways: manually or with the camera of your iPhone or iPad. The latter is logically a lot more convenient and faster;
- Then the code will be verified and you have to press ‘Done’, after which the credit will be added to your Apple ID.
Redeem via your Mac or PC
And you don’t have to do more! The credit is now on your Apple ID and can therefore be used for App Store purchases, iCloud storage and more. By the way, you can also redeem App Store & iTunes cards via your Mac or PC. If you are using a Windows computer, make sure you have installed iTunes and then follow the steps below.
- Open the iTunes or App Store application on your Mac, or start iTunes on your PC;
- In the App Store you first have to log in with your Apple ID, after which you have to click on your name at the bottom left. You will see the option ‘Redeem gift voucher’ appear in the top right corner;
- If you use iTunes, go to ‘Account> Redeem’ and then log in with your Apple ID;
- Finally, go through the steps to add the credit to your account.
