Thanks to the parking function in the Maps app, you can easily find where the car is. Your car does need bluetooth or CarPlay for this.
Find a parked car with iPhone
Are you in an unfamiliar city or are you going to a place where your car is parked on a huge area? Then it is useful to be reminded where he is at the end of the day. Your iPhone can lend a hand. The Maps app from Apple remembers where your car is parked, but there are a number of things to keep in mind.
For example, your iPhone must be connected to your car. This can be done via bluetooth or CarPlay. Do you have an older car and not these options? Then the parking function of Apple Maps unfortunately does not work. Also check out our video in which we explain what else you can do with CarPlay.
Check your settings first
Before you can find your parked car, you must first check a number of settings. Go through the following steps to make sure it works:
- Go to the Settings app and tap on ‘Privacy’;
- Select ‘Location Services’ and choose ‘System’;
- Tap ‘Points of Interest’ and use Touch ID, a PIN or Face ID to gain access;
- Make sure the switch is on for ‘Important locations’.
In addition, you must also ensure that the Maps app cooperates. To do this, go to the Settings app and press ‘Maps’. Then slide the switch at ‘Show parking location’ under the ‘Your car’ heading. Of course you must also have your bluetooth connection on. You have now set up your iPhone correctly.
This is how you find your car
After a car ride, you don’t have to do anything to find it again. As soon as you get out of the car, the Bluetooth connection between the iPhone and the car is lost, and the location of your car is marked in the Maps app. So you can just walk away without having to worry about anything.
After a few seconds, your parked car will already appear in Maps. This way you can find it again via GPS if you want to drive back later. To do this, swipe the search field up in the Maps app and select ‘Parked car’ from the list of suggestions. You can even follow directions to it.
The parking function does not work when you are near your house. After all, the Maps app has saved your home address and therefore knows that you are nearby.
