Do you want to protect the Netflix profile of yourself or, for example, your children with a pin code? Which can. In this tip, we’ll show you how.
Protect Netflix profile with a PIN
If you do not want everyone to be able to access your or your children’s Netflix profile, it is possible to protect it with a pin code. Handy if, for example, you do not want your children to be able to watch TV at any time of the day, or that they can browse your Netflix profile.
You can arrange this in the settings of your Netflix account. Unfortunately, it is not possible to do this via the app, so open Netflix in your browser first. This is how you do it:
- Go to Netflix in your browser and tap your profile;
- Go to ‘Account’ via the menu on the side;
- Scroll down and under ‘Profile and Parental Controls’ tap on the profile you want to lock;
- Under ‘Profile lock’, tap ‘Change’;
- Enter your Netflix password;
- Check that you want to set a pin code;
- Enter a four-digit code that you can easily remember;
- Tap on ‘Save’;
From now on you have to enter the pin code to access the profile or to play downloaded movies and series. If it does not work, it may help to exit the profile first so that the updated settings take effect.
For example, go to another profile or log out of your own profile and log in again. If you want to turn the PIN code off again, follow the same steps again, but uncheck a PIN code.
Forgotten your PIN?
Have you forgotten the PIN? Then tap ‘Forgot your PIN?’ at the bottom of the screen. You will see a link. Click on it or enter it manually in your browser on your phone or laptop. Then enter your Netflix password to view or edit the PIN. Here, too, it is best to close your profile to make the settings.
