Tip: This is how you take a screenshot of your Touch Bar

That you can take a screenshot on macOS is probably well known. But did you know that this is also possible with the second screen of your MacBook Pro? This is how you take a screenshot of the Touch Bar.

Tip: Take a screenshot of the Touch Bar

The MacBook Pro’s Touch Bar adjusts based on which programs you are currently using. With Safari, for example, you can see bookmarks, so you can quickly navigate to your favorite site. Just like with the ‘normal’ screen, you can also take a screenshot of the Touch Bar. There are two ways to do this.

Method 1

Do you want to save the image of the touch bar directly to your desktop? Then use the following key combination: Command + Shift + 6 (⇧⌘6). When taking a normal screenshot, use roughly the same combination, but enter a 3 instead of a 6.

Method 2

You can also send the image from the touch bar directly to the clipboard. That way you can directly copy the screenshot and use it in a program, without opening the file from the start screen. To do this, use the following key combination: Control + Command + Shift + 6 (Control⌘⇧6).

About the touch bar

The Touch Bar was added to the MacBook Pro in 2016. The touch bar has never become completely flawless, because the 13-inch MacBook Pro from 2016 and 2017, for example, are not equipped with it. Some Apple enthusiasts find the Touch Bar practical, while others find it more sensible to make the Pro’s large screen touch sensitive.
