An artist has transformed Apple’s sneakers emoji into a real pair of shoes. This is what they look like!
To have! Apple’s sneakers emoji are now real shoes
If you are a fan of sneakers, you have probably used the sneakers icon. An avid artist has now turned the emoji into a real pair of shoes.
Jose Wong made the shoes based on Apple’s emoji. He calls the shoes ‘The Shoe 1’. The shoes were available to order for a while, but the page has now been taken offline.
This is how much the Apple emoji shoes cost
For a pair of ‘Apple emoji’ shoes you had to pay $219.90, the equivalent of about 208 euros. You also have to add VAT and import costs, bringing the total to around 279 euros. The shoes were available in sizes 37 to 46.
Funnily enough, the sneakers emoji are based on a real sneaker. It has the looks of the New Balance 574. This type of shoes was worn by Steve Jobs, although he always wore the 991 or the 992, these shoes look very similar. In the emoji, the New Balance logo has been replaced by two parallel stripes.
Wong used various features of the New Balance 574 shoes and Apple products to shape the shoes. The packaging, for example, is minimalist: it is a large white box with a single image of the shoe.
The packaging contains a booklet with an envelope that reads ‘Designed by Josewong in China’. This is a reference to a reference to Apple’s famous tagline Designed by Apple in California.
Also nice: the insoles have a print of the internal parts of an iPhone. And the Shoe 1’s rubber outsole is made from five percent recycled rubber.
Unfortunately, the shoes can no longer be ordered. It is also unknown whether the shoes can ever be ordered again.
