Two more models coming up

The Turkish national car brand Togg has presented the production versions of the first three models. Two are familiar, the third is new.
Amid great interest, the starting signal was given in Turkey last weekend for Togg, Turkey’s ‘national car brand’. None other than President Erdogan was on hand to open the factory and he was driven there in the first production Togg, a mid-sized compact SUV. A car of the size Volkswagen Tiguan, which for the time being is referred to as ‘C SUV’. We’ve known them for a while; a year ago, AutoWeek fished up images of it at a patent office. Togg now shows it (photo 2) in production trim. In January of this year, we first got our hands on Togg’s second model, a slick-lined lower five-door. A concept car with a somewhat futuristic interior. We now also get to see the production version (photo 4).
New is the middle car of the bunch (photo above). That appears to be a fairly conventionally proportioned sedan that closely resembles its fastback sibling further up front. The sedan shares its technology with the other models – all designed by Pininfarina. According to our colleagues at NU.nl there is probably a 204 hp electric motor in the barrel for the three. That is probably for the entry-level versions. Earlier understood AutoWeek already that powers of up to 400 hp will be possible and that the cars will have a driving range of about 500 km according to the WLTP cycle. Before that happens, the battery factory still has to be built from the ground up. For the batteries, Togg works together with the Chinese Farasis Energy, which in turn is affiliated with Mercedes-Benz.
The opening of the factory seizes Togg to once again shed light on his ambitions. By 2030, a million Toggs should have been built and before that time the brand is expanding with the two models that are still under a cloth. Togg also wants to set up its own charging network in Turkey, with 600 fast chargers at 400 locations. Next year, Togg hopes to build around 17,000 to 18,000 cars, which should eventually increase tenfold on an annual basis. After all, Togg also wants to sell cars outside Turkey, including here in Europe. The beginning is here.
