Top 10: from 0 to 100 in less than 5 seconds for the least amount of money

Not too long ago, a 0-100 time of less than 5 seconds was the territory of supercars, but nowadays it is a lot more commonplace. Today we will tell you about the cheapest ways to get home with such a fast car.

Everyday? Say that! Two of the three available versions of the car, which in 2019 could call itself the most popular in the Netherlands, can go from 0 to 100 in less than 5 seconds. The cheapest of the two is called Long Range AWD and costs just under 60 mille. Judging by the sales figures, we don’t have to explain that this is a good deal anymore, but with a seventh place, the Tesla certainly does not appear to be the cheapest option for those who have acceleration times at the top of the priority list.

One look at the list below is enough to realize that Volvo is the master of this field. The Swedes of course owe that to their ingenious plug-in hybrid powertrain. The most affordable Volvo with the 390 hp T8 drivetrain is the V60 in Business Pro trim. The S60 Recharge, as the plug-ins are nowadays, is minimal as an Inscription and therefore has a slightly higher entry price than its station wagon brother. However, the sedan is even faster, because here the three-digit number is already in 4.6 instead of 4.9 seconds on the clock. The still powerful Polestar Engineered version of the S60 is also on the list. The 405 horsepower variant eats another 0.2 seconds from the 0-100 time of his brother and costs just under 65 grand.

In the form of the XC40 Recharge, Volvo now also has a real EV on offer. That car also makes it to the list. Then there is also sister brand Polestar, which with the 2 has a direct competitor for the Tesla Model 3. With a 0-100 time of 4.7 counts, the car is not as fast as the Model 3 in Dual Motor trim, but thanks to its lower price tag, the Swedish Chinese still ends up higher on the list.

Those who prefer to entrust their traffic light sprints to a petrol engine should focus on the cars in places 3, 4, 8 and 10. With the 306 hp 35i versions of the 1-series and 2-series Gran Coupé, BMW provides the lower half of the list, but brother Mini has a better offer with the equally motorized Clubman Cooper S JCW. The six-door station wagon only has to tolerate the Volkswagen T-Roc R in the petrol field. The 300 horsepower, somewhat remarkable “hot-SUV” can count from 0 to 100 in 4.8 and costs “only” € 56,995 without options.
