We often have discussions at our office about what beautiful cars are. For example, many colleagues like the Volkswagen Golf, while others are disgusted and prefer to see a Fiat Multipla. Maybe weird people work at our office. However, you cannot argue about some cars, because they are absolutely beautiful. You know this when you look at it, and sometimes even when you only hear the story behind it.
Beautiful cars with a story
The breathtakingly good looking cars in this list all have a story. Some cars played the lead role in Hollywood films. Others won all design prizes that can be won.
They all have one thing in common: they are so expensive. The most expensive cars are even worth more than 40 million euros! Below you can read the story behind all these beautiful cars. With pictures.
# 10. Citroën DS

It is October 5, 1955 when the Citroën DS is presented at the Salon de Paris. The French have gone through tough times, but the country is now again full of optimism. The almost unreal fusion of innovative technology, new materials and imaginative design immediately makes a deep impression and is a hit.
Citroën received no less than 12,000 orders on the first day of the show. Eventually the DS, which can be seen in countless films, rolled off the band almost 1.5 million times. Everyone wanted this typically French and futuristic-looking car. And certainly not the least: philosophers, architects, designers and even President Charles de Gaulle.
Charles de Gaulle, president of France between 1959 and 1969, even owes his life to this Citroën. In August 1962 he was driven through the deprived areas of Paris when someone shot a machine gun on the car. All tires were flat, but thanks to an ingenious suspension system, the car was able to escape and drive away at full speed. The president then remained faithful to his DS for the rest of his reign.
# 9. Bugatti Chiron Sport

The history behind the Bugatti Chiron Sport from 2018 is a lot shorter, but no less exciting. Bugatti stands for speed, beauty, comfort and pure luxury. Although the Chiron is no longer the fastest car in the world, it is still dizzying when we look at the performance of this sport version, which has been specially designed for the circuit.
The bizarre quad-turbo W16 engine delivers no less than 1500 hp and a torque of 1600 Nm. With that he reaches the 100 in 2.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 420 km / h. This makes the Chiron Sport the ultimate toy for wealthy car enthusiasts. They can buy it for around 2.65 million euros.
In addition, we would almost forget that the Chiron Sport is primarily a feast for the eyes. The design of the car made of carbon fiber breathes speed and is therefore totally designed for this. All lines have only one goal: to overcome air resistance as effectively as possible. The result is a car that is reminiscent of a beautifully harmonious symbiosis of a bullet and a rocket.
# 8. Aston Martin DB5

Aston Martin DB5 is more than a car. It is a timeless star on the silver screen. The luxury GT became an icon of style and British class after it first appeared in 1964 in the third James Bond film Goldfinger. Not only the design of the car appealed to the imagination: the license plates that changed with the push of a button, the shooting seat (for unwanted passengers) and a real navigation system were far ahead of their time.
Since then, the four-liter has appeared with a top of just 233 km/h in dozens of other films, including again as Bondcar in Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies and Casino Royale. Leonardi DiCaprio also drove around in Catch Me If You Can.
Those who want to buy exactly the model in which Sean Connery saved the world at that time are lucky: Aston Martin is currently producing 25 replicas of the model from then. Including some gadgets, but not the shooting seats. Price: £ 2.75 million.
# 7. Porsche 911 GT3 RS

A list of beautiful cars is not complete without at least one Porsche 911. We could have opted for the first nine-eleven from 1963, but instead opted for the last, a worthy, pure and ultramodern tribute to the very first 911 design from Ferdinand “Butzi” Porsche.
The 911 GT3 RS is a racing car, so not ideal on the road. But this does not make it less beautiful. Every detail is still designed by hand, and hands are still used in the construction of the car near Stuttgart.
Although the 911 is primarily an iconic car, the performance is certainly not unsportsmanlike. The stunningly sounding 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer under the hood produces no less than 520 horsepower, making it the most powerful Porsche engine ever. With this you go from 0 to 100 in 3.2 seconds and if you then do not release the accelerator pedal (switching is done automatically), you will ultimately drive 312 km/h. That is moving on.
# 6. Ferrari Testarossa

Anyone thinking of an iconic sports car is thinking of the Testarossa. This 1984 Ferrari is perhaps the most talked-about and extravagant car ever. With its typical air slots in the doors and collapsible headlights, it is the first ultimate sports car for people with far too much money and rich drug dealers who had to flee from the police in particular.
Also the Testarossa I known from TV. Those who watched Miami Vice in the 1980s could admire this Ferrari every episode. The design then sold itself. There were waiting lists of five years, this car was so popular.
This popularity also has a lot to do with performance. They were really incredible for that time. The engine that is in it is the very first twelve-cylinder with four valves per cylinder. This has a capacity of 4.9 liters and delivers 390 hp with which drug dealers with a whopping 290 km/h could drive away from the police. Yes, with a Ferrari they went fast in the eighties!
# 5. Ford Mustang Bullitt

The chance that you will encounter a Mustang Bullitt ‘in the wild’ is very small, because only one copy has been exported by Ford. Yet this last descendant from the Mustang family is one to look forward to.
This car was developed on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Bulliit film. In this, protagonist Steve McQueen pursues two assassins for ten minutes, you guessed it, a Mustang.
The Mustang, which weighs over 1800 kilos, is a feast for the eyes and ears. The V8 sounds like a brave horse and with the typical black grille and angular lines you will have no trouble recognizing it when you come across that one car here.
# 4. Lamborghini Miura

With the Miura, Lamborghini redefined what a car was and what was able to do, creating the first ever super car. It is the most important car that Lamborghini ever made and certainly the nicest.
When the first Miura, named after a special type of Italian bull, was first shown to the public in 1966, everyone was dumbfounded. The design seemed to come straight from the future: the car was so sexy and so controversial.
More than that, it was a big middle finger to Ferrari’s competing colleagues. Ferruccio Lamborghini had dared to criticize one of Enzo Ferrari’s sports cars. Enzo had told Ferruccio to keep his mouth shut, because he supposedly could only make tractors and knew nothing about cars.
From that moment the rivalry was born and they would do anything at Lamborghini to make cars even more beautiful than Ferrari.
# 3. Ferrari 250 GTO

Ferrari 250 Gran Turismo Omologato is one of the most rare supercar of all time and was also named ‘best Ferrari of all time’. However, only 39 cars were built between 1962 and 1964. That is why this car was very exclusive from the start. As a buyer you even needed permission from founder and director Enzo Ferrari, before you could purchase one!
Even a blind person can see that this is a very special car. With its hand-welded tubular frame, active rear axle, A-shaped suspension and high-profile wire wheels, the sports car is a feast for the eyes. The interior is very basic: there is not even a speedometer in it!
However, a car does not have to have a luxurious interior to cut your breath away from beauty and be very expensive. Although the special model ‘only’ cost 18,000 dollars in 1962, it has become absurdly valuable due to the enormous interest of collectors. One was sold in 2018 for no less than 60 million euros!
# 2. Renault Trezor

Renault Trezor is not for sale. But this concept car is beautiful, and therefore it deserves a place among our all-time favorites!
With the electrically powered Trezor, Renault combines the experience from Formula 1 and Formula E with a stunning design and a hefty dose of future. This has already resulted in a cartload of prizes, for ‘Best Concept Car 2016’ in Geneva and ‘most beautiful concept car’ in the Italian Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
The graceful car is designed according to the principles of the attraction between men and women. The front is feminine, while the back is very masculine. Unique is the swing door opening, which symbolizes the opening of a ring box. Furthermore, a honeycomb structure on the fully carbon-made exterior and laser wires as rear lights complete this fantastic design.
# 1. Jaguar E-type from 1962

The Jaguar E-type is by far the most beautiful car ever built. These are not only our words, but also those of Enzo Ferrari (and he may know). Just look at it. Watch the tearing hood and simple grille shaping this iconic silhouette. And look at how the chrome wire wheels in combination with the elegant chrome bumper breathe pure classes.
The E-type was first made in 1961 and has since then always supplied all the most beautiful car ever lists. Among others Frank Sinatra, Brigitte Bardot, George Best and Steve McQueen (who also acted with that one Mustang) drove around once.
Since then, three generations of the E-type have followed until 1974, all of which are pleasing to the eye. Of course, this car also sparkled several times on the silver screen and on TV. It has appeared in Austin Powers and in the Mad Men series.
If you have a full wallet, 2020 can be a special year for you. The E-type Zero will be for sale for around 400,000 euros, an electric variant of this classic model.
