Top 10: The cheapest new cars with a V8

If you are looking for a new car, the biggest requirements will probably have to do with reliability, fixed costs, perhaps environmental friendliness and of course the purchase price. Suppose you only care (a little) about the latter, but have the only requirement that the car must have a V8, what do you come up with?

Many will especially appreciate the fact that so much innovation is taking place in the car industry and that ‘cleaner’ forms of mobility are gaining ground. Progress, nice isn’t it? Yet it is also understandable that at the same time people with petrol in their veins are not dying. They already see the mood hanging; sooner or later the splendid roll of a V8 will only be a thing of the past. The sound of a V8 evokes something. Two or even four cylinders more than strictly necessary nowadays? Maybe, but the ear wants something too.

The first half of the top 10 cheapest new cars with a V8 will probably be well liked by many V8 enthusiasts. Which modern car is more of a strong legacy from other times than the Ford Mustang? Classic looks in a modern jacket and still available with a thick 5.0-liter V8. Partly due to the hefty BPM, the Mustang with eight cylinders is roughly € 35,000 more expensive than the cheapest with the four-cylinder, so you have to pay a lot of money. Then you also have the choice of a manual gearbox or the ten-speed automatic. A manual gearbox is about € 2,000 more expensive than a machine, with both the Fastback and the Convertible. The Bullitt is only available with a manual gearbox.

The second half of the top 10 is fully occupied by Mercedes. That brand, especially compared to the direct competitors, still has a fairly wide range of V8 engines. Cars like the Audi RS 4 and the BMW M4 have been doing it for years with a six-cylinder, Mercedes still supplies the C 63 with a V8. In addition to the various body styles of the C 63 and the C 63 S Coupé, we also find a Mercedes in this top 10: the GLE 580 4Matic. That’s a bit of an odd one out. It is the only version of the GLE with a V8 and in terms of price it fits exactly between the C 63s.

Of course there are also some interesting cars that fell just outside the top 10. The BMW M550i xDrive for example; with € 143,886 the cheapest large mid-range sedan with a V8. The Jaguar F-type P450 RWD also barely made it with its € 145,510. If you are looking for a top-class sedan with a V8, Audi is the cheapest: the A8 with a V8 is available as a 60 TDI quattro from € 144,670.
