Torsus Praetorian is the bus for schools in the bush

Traveling to school in the Netherlands is not really a challenge, but that is not the case for some remote places elsewhere in the world. Torsus is now responding to this with this very adventurous school bus.

A little child simply goes to school by bicycle here in the Netherlands, but in third world countries it is sometimes quite a journey to get there. According to Torsus, which we know from this very rugged Volkswagen Crafter, it is sometimes even such a challenge that a regular school bus is not enough. That’s where the Torsus Praetorian Schoolbus comes in. It brings bad news for children who thought they could stay at home ‘because of poor accessibility’. The Praetorian Schoolbus combines the properties of an off-road vehicle with a school bus.

The Praetorian has room for 35 people, all of whom sit high and dry on extremely stylish chairs (photo 5). Anyone who is still bored despite the thrilling ride can try to solve the math on the seat cover. To ensure that the driver does not have the children flying around his ears at the first hill, all seats are equipped with a seat belt. Very safe.

The monster stands on the base of a four-wheel drive MAN TGM truck. Although the Czech company does not say a word about the specifications, it does say that the engines of that MAN are also used. That means that there is a 250 hp and 1,050 Nm or 290 hp and 1,150 Nm strong 6.9-liter diesel engine. This must undoubtedly get the colossus off its place. It is not cheap. The Praetorian already costs € 166,000 (Czech price) and there will probably be something extra for this school bus variant.
