Maximum €1.99 per litre

TotalEnergies will implement a price cap on diesel and petrol in France for the rest of 2023. The provider will not ask for more than €1.99 per litre, unless it concerns premium fuels.
Good news for TotalEnergies customers in France. Whatever happens to oil prices this year; petrol and diesel prices will not rise above €1.99 per liter at the petrol stations of the oil company. Patrick Pouyanne, CEO of the company, announced this on national television in France last night. The price ceiling only applies to the regular variants of diesel and petrol, so not to the ‘higher-quality’ Excellium petrol and diesel of the brand.
While fuel prices in the Netherlands are still being reduced due to a temporary reduction in excise duty, the excise duty reduction was lifted in France on 1 January. Partly because of this, petrol prices are currently around €2 per litre. Diesel is about €0.20 per liter cheaper. For the time being, Pouyanne’s promise has had little or no effect. However, higher fuel prices later in the year are a possibility, but at TotalEnergies in France they will never become exorbitant in 2023. The brand has more than 3,000 gas stations in the country.
