At the launch of the new Toyota Aygo X, Toyota already announced the starting price, but not yet the entire price list. Today we can definitively – and exclusively – let you know what the other versions should cost.
The new Toyota Aygo X is known from €15,995. For that money, the nameless basic version is ready, of course with the one-liter three-cylinder with 72 hp that is in all versions. In addition to this basic trim, there are four versions of the manual Aygo. The Play costs €17,595, the First €18,995, the Envy €20,795 and the top version Limited €22,595.
In addition to a manual gearbox, the new Aygo X is also available with a CVT automatic transmission. That is a novelty, and Toyota promised at the introduction that this version is not much inferior to the manual version in terms of consumption. That seems to be correct, because with 112 grams, the CO2 emissions are hardly higher than with the manual version, which does it with 108 to 110 grams. Still, the Aygo X with CVT is clearly more expensive. This is where the party starts at the Play, so there is no real basic version. The price difference for each version is €1,700. With CVT, an Aygo Play costs €19,295, a First €20,695, an Envy €22,495 and a €24,295.
Equipment
To immediately cut the reader off: yes, up to 24 grand for an A-segmenter is a lot of money. At the first meeting, however, we noticed that the Aygo has become a lot more mature. In addition, the equipment is up to standard. For example, the basic version already gets air conditioning, electric windows, adaptive cruise control (!), automatic high beam and a lane assistant. The Play adds a 7-inch multimedia system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto and also gets, for example, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, electrically adjustable door mirrors and a reversing camera.
A simple Aygo X, note the halogen headlights. Thanks to ‘MCW 84’!
The First distinguishes itself for just 19 grand with LED headlights and turn signals. You also get here for the first time light metal (17 inches, just like the steel of the basic version), installs Toyota fog lamps in the front bumper and there is automatic climate control. As the name implies, this is an introductory version, which, according to Toyota, entails an advantage of €500.
The Envy, which was apparently created to make the neighbors jealous, is even on 18-inch alloy. The screen is also a size larger at 9 inches. It controls, among other things, JBL audio with four speakers and a real subwoofer. This is also the first version with the Bi-Tone body, with a roof and C-pillar sprayed in a different color.
Toyota Aygo X Limited
The Limited, a rather American name, is logically completely packed. This is the version that starred in our introductory video and it always looks like that. Each Limited is in fact ‘Cardamom Green’ with a black roof and orange accents. This version also has unique seat covers, heated seats and Smart Entry, which allows the key to remain in the pocket. The Limited also seems to be a kind of action model and is actually only available in a limited way (‘limited’, so).
The open roof, which Toyota somewhat optimistically calls a convertible roof, has an additional cost of €995. However, it is only available on the Envy and Limited, the thickest versions. The most expensive Aygo X is, as far as we can see now, a Limited with CVT and the optional convertible top. The total for that configuration is €25,290.
Compare with ‘old’ Aygo
If we look at the price list of the old Aygo, we first notice that the starting price is lower there. At €14,145, the entry-level version of the outgoing Aygo is, to be precise, €1,850 cheaper than the simplest Aygo X. Air conditioning was also standard in the previous version, as were power windows. With four pieces, the old version even gets twice as many speakers as the new one. On the other hand, the Aygo X is a lot bigger and more spacious, and that the Safety Sense package was not on it before. That means no adaptive cruise control, but even regular cruise control was not available on the outgoing Aygo.
