The Toyota Highlander will also be available in the Netherlands from next year. The 7-person SUV is ideally suited as a towing vehicle for a caravan or trailer.

The Toyota Highlander has been around since 2000. While the earlier models were reserved for countries such as Japan, the United States, Australia and China, in early 2021 Toyota will also market the new generation with us. What kind of car is it?

The Highlander is a large SUV of 4.95 meters long and 1.93 meters wide. The car is therefore comparable to large SUVs such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Ford Edge. Seven occupants fit on three rows of seats. If you fold down the third row, you can store 658 liters of luggage. With the second row of seats down, that is a generous 1,909 liters. The second row of seats can also be moved by a distance of 180 mm, to ensure easy entry and exit and excellent legroom in the second row.

In our country, the Toyota Highlander will only be available as a ‘hybrid without plug’. An efficient 2.5 liter Atkinson petrol engine is assisted by electric motors on the front and rear axles. This makes intelligent All-Wheel Drive available as standard. If you also hear that the Highlander can handle a maximum towing weight of 2,000 kg, you know that with the new SUV you have an excellent caravan tractor. The system power is 244 hp.

The standard equipment of the Dutch Highlander will include leather upholstery, a JBL audio system with eleven speakers, a wireless charger for smartphones and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. In addition, the Premium version appears, which is distinguished by a 12.3 inch multimedia system, Head-Up Display, digital rear view mirror and seat ventilation. The well-known Toyota Safety Sense safety system will also be on the Highlander.
