Extra fast to the 11 million

Toyota is increasing the production capacity of its French factory, where the 10 millionth Yaris was produced today, to 300,000 cars per year. The brand produces the Yaris and Yaris Cross there, as well as the Yaris with Mazda 2 badge.
The Toyota Yaris and Yaris Cross are popular in Europe, so the Japanese are boosting the production capacity of their French factory called Valenciennes. That reports Auto News Europe. In that factory, Toyota makes the Yaris, Yaris Cross and the hybrid Mazda 2, of which it can now build a total of 300,000 a year. The Yaris Cross is also still being built in Japan, the regular Yaris (with or without Mazda badge) in France, Japan and the Czech Republic. The French factory produced a record number of cars last year (255,584 units) and expects to screw together more than 280,000 units this year – thanks to the expansion. From 2024 there should be around 300,000, while the factory could already call itself the most productive car factory in France with more than 250,000 cars last year.
The higher production capacity does not come out of the blue. Toyota is currently doing very good business in the Netherlands and Europe. In the Netherlands, the brand is in second place after Kia. It sold 751 units of the Yaris Cross in the first two months of this year, of the regular Yaris 679. In the whole of Europe, Toyota delivered more than 60,000 cars in February, with its top 3 consisting of the Yaris, Yaris Cross and Corolla.
10 millionth Yaris
Coinciding with the news of the expansion of production capacity, Toyota today announced that it has produced its 10 millionth Yaris. The honor of the number 10 million goes to a gray copy in GR Sport version, which rolled off the line at the French factory today. The Yaris thus joins the illustrious list of Toyota models as the successor to the Starlet, of which more than 10 million have been built. This also consists of the Corolla, Camry, RAV4, Hilux and Land Cruiser. The Yaris just didn’t need 25 years to make that many sales.
