Shooting Tesla Model 3
The Toyota bZ4X is the first Toyota car developed primarily as an electric car that the brand attaches to the bZ label. AutoWeek can now show you the first pictures of the second: the bZ3.
Photos of the Toyota bZ3, a fully electric sedan that we were able to show you on patent image earlier, have emerged from the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology. Like the electric SUV bZ4X, the car is built on the e-TNGA platform, the modular base specifically intended for pure electric cars of the brand. Unlike the bZ4X, the bZ3 uses technology from the Chinese BYD.
The Toyota bZ3 is a 4.73 meter long, 1.84 meter wide and 1.48 meter high electric sedan that is clearly suffused with the design language that the brand introduced on the bZ4X. Those dimensions are interesting, because the bZ3 is comparable in size to the Tesla Model 3. The sedan has recessed handles in the doors and comes on – depending on the version chosen – 16- to 18-inch light-alloy wheels.

We do not have detailed technical information yet, but we do know that the electric Toyota to be sold by the Chinese joint venture FAW Toyota uses a battery pack from the Chinese BYD. We can already report that the car will be available with a 184 hp electric motor on the rear axle and that there will be a version with a 245 hp electric motor on the rear axle. Both engine versions give the bZ3 a top speed of 160 km/h. Unfortunately, the range of the Toyota bZ3 weighing at least 1,835 kilos is not yet known.
Toyota showed no fewer than 15 new concept cars at the end of 2021. This included the bZ SDN, a conceptual version of the Toyota bZ3 that you see in these photos.
