Toyota refreshes the Corolla slightly in the run-up to the new year and makes a small series of adjustments, just like with the C-HR. The new infotainment system is the most notable of these.
The current Corolla has been running since 2019. That is not very long, but Toyota already sees room to make some adjustments. In this model year update for 2022, the most notable change is the new infotainment system. This concerns the same system as the aforementioned C-HR also gets. The row of buttons on either side of the touchscreen disappears and, according to Toyota, the 8-inch touchscreen of the new Smart Connect system responds much better to user commands thanks to a 2.4 times faster processor. In addition, over-the-air updates of the software are now also possible. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are of course also included, whereby the iPhone can also be connected wirelessly.

The new multimedia system is standard from the Dynamic version. Then you also get a four-year Smart Connect subscription, which gives you access to cloud navigation, the over-the-air updates, local parking and traffic information and a ‘smart voice assistant’ with which you can, for example, open and close the windows. without having to touch the buttons. Incidentally, it is striking that the smaller Aygo X and Yaris Cross have an even larger 9-inch touchscreen.
In addition to the new infotainment system, the Corolla will receive two new body colors for model year 2022: ‘Platinum White Pearl’ and ‘Silver Metallic’. These two colors are also available as ‘bi-tone’ on the hatchback and Touring Sports, with the roof and the A, B and C-pillars in black. The Corolla Sedan gets new 10-spoke 17-inch light-alloy wheels as an extra option.
The Toyota Corolla with the new multimedia system will appear on the Dutch market in January 2022. It is not yet known whether the price of the Corolla will also change, but it does not appear that it will change very much.
