But also for here?

Toyota will put a fully electric Hilux into production next year. It may be a production version of an electric study model from a few years ago. This is stated by a senior Toyota official in Thailand.
Toyota has a somewhat conservative view of fully electric propulsion and it is certainly difficult to imagine a pure workhorse like the Toyota Hilux with an electric drivetrain in that context. Yet the Hilux will also be fully electric. This was stated by a senior Toyota official in Thailand Reuters. The electric Toyota Hilux should go into production next year.
There are no details yet, but there is a chance that it is a production version of the Toyota Hilux Revo BEV Concept from 2022. With that study model, Toyota already showed in Australia that it is thinking about an electric Hilux. That concept version was estimated to only travel about 230 km on a full battery. We are curious to see what changes this may have towards 2025.

With such a driving range, it might have a hard time compared to, for example, the brand new Isuzu D-Max BEV, although with 67 kWh capacity it does not have a very large battery for its size and therefore possibly not a very large driving range. However, the competition is not very great in this class; Popular pick-ups such as the Ford Ranger and Volkswagen Amarok, for example, are not available with a fully electric powertrain. Only one step higher, for example with the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500, are there more electric choices.
The Toyota Hilux was also introduced to other (partly) electric drives. There is a study model with a fuel cell and you can sign for a mild-hybrid Hilux here in the Netherlands.
