Toyota is doing very well in Europe

2024 started well, especially Lexus

Toyota Yaris Cross vs. Toyota C-HR

Toyota has not been able to complain for years about how it scores on the European car market. In any case, 2024 has started more than well. In the first three months of this year it sold no less than 10 percent more cars than in the same period last year. Toyota’s luxury brand Lexus had a fantastic quarter.

Toyota Motor Europe sold 319,737 cars in Europe in the first three months of this year. That was 10 percent more in the same period last year. However, not all of them were Toyotas, although that brand did account for the majority of sales. Car brand Toyota sold 300,577 cars, eight percent more than in the first quarter of 2023. Although Lexus logically sold many fewer vehicles, it did record a much higher growth rate. Lexus sold 19,160 cars in Europe in the first quarter. That was no less than 48 percent more than in the same period last year.

The Yaris Cross was by far the most popular Toyota. Nearly 53,000 of these left the showroom in the first quarter. The Corolla and Corolla Cross – Toyota includes them both under the heading ‘Corolla family’ – together accounted for 47,224 sales contracts. In third place is the Yaris, of which almost 45,000 have been sold. Places four, five and six go to the C-HR (31,299 units), Aygo X (26,280) and the RAV4 (25,717). The NX was the most popular Lexus. 7,186 of them were sold. Big brother RX sold 3,684 units, the UX sold 3,520 units. The LBX is not yet included in the figures, but this compact crossover will undoubtedly increase sales further.
